Effective April 7, 2026The short version: ZenMote operates entirely on your local network. It collects no personal data, sends nothing to any server, and requires no account. What happens on your device stays on your device.
ZenMote does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. The following data exists only on your device and is never shared:
ZenMote requires the Local Network permission to discover TVs on your Wi-Fi network using Bonjour (mDNS) and to open direct TCP connections for sending remote commands.
All communication is point-to-point between your phone and your TV. No traffic passes through any external server, cloud service, or third-party relay.
ZenMote contains:
No usage data, button presses, or behavioral information is recorded or transmitted anywhere.
ZenMote listens for changes to your device’s system audio output volume to detect presses of the physical volume buttons and relay them as volume commands to your TV. This is processed entirely on-device in real time. No audio is recorded and no volume data is stored or transmitted.
Pairing credentials are stored using the system Keychain with default accessibility settings. This means they are protected by your device passcode and may sync to your other devices via the device’s encrypted sync infrastructure when enabled. The app developer has no access to Keychain data at any time.
ZenMote does not collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is fully compliant with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
If this privacy policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a revised effective date. Because the app collects no personal data, no notification to individual users is required for routine updates.
